The 2011 BMW 1-Series is being rigorously tested out in the open and BMW could even showcase the next generation 1-Series at the Paris Motor Show in October, 2010. Here we have another rendering of the 2011 BMW 1-Series.
The first generation BMW 1-Series which was launched in 2004 was an excellent car dynamically. It was the best drivers car in its category and the only rear wheel driven. The BMW 1-Series being the company’s entry level car, was highly favored by the enthusiasts as an affordable Bimmer.
But the 1-Series had lots of shortcomings which really left the new customers to the brand disappointed. Interior space, plastic quality and the refinement were terribly short of expectations. Now with the 2011 1-Series BMW has a chance to rectify all that.
The new 1-Series would be much bigger and wouldn’t have the sloping roofline of the previous gen ’1′. This would result in creating more cabin space. The new ’1′ would borrow styling cues from the 5GT and 5-Series. The split kidney grille would become bigger and would become more upright.
BMW is working with Peugeot-Citroen to develop small 4-cylinder engines to be used in the 1-Series and Mini. BMW hinted there wouldn’t be an M-version of the 2011 1-Series but Super-Sports version might come.
