We have already written that upcoming 2012 Audi A2 would be coming only as an electric model. The car would go head-on against the Mercedes Benz B-class and the new range of BMW Megacity electric cars which would come sometime in 2013.
The first generation Audi A2 was a failure for Audi and now Audi is looking to resurrect the A2 by developing an electric city car based on the Audi A1 platform.
The 2012 Audi A2 would be premium compact electric MPV built as a monocoque to save costs. Audi is working to maximize interior space while keeping the exteriors of the car extremely compact.
At first only the electric version of the A2 dubbed the “A2 e-tron” would be launched. The petrol and diesel hybrids could follow the electric version. Audi could also use a petrol/diesel engine as a range boosting generator for the electric batteries.
