Ford has launched production of the 2015 Ford Edge at its Oakville Assembly plant outside of Toronto, Canada. The 2015 Edge is the company’s first vehicle in North America getting the new twin-scroll 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine. With the introduction of the MY2015 model, the EcoBoost engine will become standard across the Edge range for the first time.
400 new employees have been hired in the plant to support the global roll-out of the 2015 Edge. It is exported to more than 100 countries around the world, including markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Thanks to the addition of right-hand-drive and a diesel engine, the 2015 Edge will be exported to Western Europe for the first time.
The 2015 Edge goes on sale in Canada and the U.S. in Spring 2015. European markets, including the UK and Germany, are likely to get the new crossover in late 2015. The five passenger crossover utility vehicle will be introduced in Australia and New Zealand as a replacement for the Ford Territory once the Australian production ceases in 2016.
