Ford has stated that it has received almost 2,000 orders of the 2015 Ford Mustang in the UK since its introduction in January this year. The company adds that the deliveries of the Mustang is expected to commence in November, as the first right-hand models have begun rolling-out of the company’s Flatrock Assembly Plant, in Michigan, USA.
The Detroit-based automaker states that it has ensured greater supply of the Mustang to meet demand which has been greater than expected. The company further adds that 80% of customers in the UK have chosen the fastback body style over the convertible Mustang. The 416 PS (412 bhp) 5.0-litre V8 engine is more popular amongst the UK buyers with 70% customers choosing the more powerful engine option over 317 PS (310 bhp) 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. The 6-speed manual transmission has a slight edge in popularity with 55% customers choosing it over the 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift paddle control.
Ford goes on to add that over 50% of UK spec Mustang’s have been opted with the Custom Pack which includes features like a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, satellite navigation, rear view camera, heated and cooled front seats, extra chrome embellishments and Luster Nickel silver alloy wheels on fastback models.
23% of the UK buyers have opted for the Race Red exterior paint scheme, while Shadow Black and Magnetic Silver share second place with 16.1%. The Deep Impact Blue paint scheme managed to attract 10.7% of buyers while Triple Yellow managed 8.6% to complete the top five paint schemes. The most popular interior colour scheme is Ebony Black which has been chosen by more than 75% of buyers.
The 2015 Ford Mustang is available for order in the UK with a starting price of £29,995 for the EcoBoost engine and £33,995 for the V8 engine.
