BMW has introduced the BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The company has also informed that it is offering a Competition Package on the 2016 BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M6 Convertible and the BMW M6 Grand Coupe.
The BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition is offered with a choice of two exterior paint schemes – Dazzling Alpine White and Luminous Austin Yellow Metallic. It adds decorative stripes in the signature BMW M colours which will also be used on the new BMW M6 GT3 race car.
The signature BMW kidney grille features a black chrome finish, and so do the side gills and door handles. The door mirror caps feature carbon fibre caps, while the rear sports carbon fibre M rear spoiler and diffuser for enhanced dynamics. The Competition Edition adds an M Performance exhaust with carbon fibre tail pipes for enhanced performance.
It will be offered with a choice of 20-inch forged black light alloy wheels with a double spoke M pattern shod with performance tires or 20-inch light alloy wheels with a double spoke M pattern shod with performance tires.
The cabin features the use of fine grain Merino leather in black accented by contrast stitching. The sporty ambience is further accentuated with it being available in Opal White and Yellow interior colour schemes corresponding to the exterior colour scheme. It features carbon fibre inserts on the steering wheel, gear selector and interior trim along with metal ‘M6 Competition’ lettering on the side gill and door sills.
The infotainment system can be paired with a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System or a high-end Bang & Olufsen Surround Sound System with a 16-speaker setup and output of 1,200 watts. Additional equipment includes M multifunction seats for the driver and passenger, Alcantara leather for the steering wheel and BMW Head-Up Display.
The BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition is powered by a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that produces 600 bhp and 500 lb.-ft. (678 Nm). It also gets a power boost function which increases the peak torque to (516 lb.-ft.) (700 Nm) delivered between 1,500 rpm and 6,000 rpm.
The BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition is limited to 120 units worldwide and 100 in the USA. It has been priced at US$164,900 plus destination and handling charges in the U.S. market.
