The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept has made its world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept has been designed exclusively for the Gran Turismo video game franchise available on Sony PlayStation.
Wolfgang Durheimer, President, Bugatti stated that the project makes the brand more accessible to the millions of Bugatti fans throughout the world and is aimed to say thank you for their loyalty and enthusiasm. He went on to add that the development of the Vision Gran Turismo is the first stage on a new journey that the brand will be embarking on after the successful completion of the Veyron series.
The project showcases the brand’s new design language and previews the styling that could be used on the Veyron successor Bugatti Chiron (name unconfirmed). The Vision Gran Turismo features an expressive exterior design with the front dominated by the signature horseshoe front grille which is flanked by specially developed eight-eye headlamps with aerodynamic function.
The side profile features the incorporation of the famous Bugatti line which plays an important aerodynamic role and also divides the exterior look into the signature two-tone look. Other design flourishes include a centre fin mounted on the wings and the rear side panels which is inspired by the 1936 Type 57 Atlantic and the NACA duct mounted on the roof with a light blue finish.
The rear features a strong trailing edge which has been designed to provide utmost driving stability while enabling efficient venting of hot air and exhaust from the engine. The Vision Gran Turismo sports a classis blue two-tone finish inspired by the Type 57 G Tank which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 and 1939.
The interior has been geared towards racing with the indicators, controls and displays conveniently located. It incorporates the two-tone finish from the exteriors along with backlit displays and matte blue carbon fibre trim inserts. The seats are upholstered in leather while the steering wheel, seat headrest and dash panel are wrapped in a special lightweight durable suede material.
The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept is powered by a W16 engine and features an all-wheel drive system. The engineers at Bugatti have calculated that the Vision Gran Turismo can attain speeds of over 400 km/h (250 mph) on four sections of the virtual Le Mans track.
