The SsangYong XAV-Adventure concept has been officially unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) in Germany. The fourth generation SsangYong Korando would be inspired by the XAV-Adventure concept.
The XAV-Adventure draws inspiration from the 4×4 trucks from yesteryears with a boxy design and muscular haunches. The company mentions that the boxy shape has liberated usable space in the cabin. The concept sits on large alloy wheels and features runflat tyres with a tyre pattern which is suitable for both on-road and off-road use. It features high ground clearance and a high breakover angle which enables it to tackle steep gradients.
The concept is powered by a hybrid powertrain that comprises of a 1.6-litre combustion engine and two electric motors mounted on rear axle. The concept vehicle has an all-wheel drive drivetrain. It features two driving modes – hybrid performance mode and hybrid fuel economy mode.
Additionally, the concept features the SsangYong 3S-CUBE system which incorporates a sensing device, which works together with the electric air suspension, stereo vision and smart motion control system selecting the right suspension setting for the road condition for enhanced ride comfort. The 3S-CUBE system lowers and firms up the ride during highway speeds to prevent roll and pitch while on rough and bumpy surfaces the system adjusts the ride to a softer setting.
