The Scion C-HR Concept has made its debut at the 2015 LA Auto Show. The same car has already been showcased as the Toyota C-HR Concept at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
‘C-HR’ in the name is an acronym for ‘Compact size and High Ride height’, and according to Scion, is a perfect vehicle for “yuccies”, which means young urban creative. The concept has a polarizing design that takes inspiration from a precision-cut gemstone.
The body simultaneously has a rounded and edgy look and features contrasting graphite black accents on the flared fenders, grille, lower side panels and the rear bumper. The huge 21-inch wheels also add to the muscular appeal.
Beneath the body, lies the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform that is stated to give increased body rigidity, low center of gravity, more responsive handling and improved ride comfort. The increased rigidity leads to better handling and cornering abilities as there is less body roll while turning.
Commenting on the Scion C-HR Concept Scion Vice President Andrew Gilleland says, “The Scion C-HR will be a stand-out vehicle for us. Its styling will lead the way, but its substance will seal the deal. It’s got amazing driving dynamics, superb functionality, and, like all Scions, premium features at an accommodating price. There’s no doubt this will be the next iconic vehicle for Scion.”
The production version of the C-HR Concept will be making its debut in 2016. More information like technical specifications and features are expected then.
