Galpin Auto Sports and Henrik Fisker unveiled their latest ‘Ultimate American Muscle Car’ – the Rocket Speedster concept, at the Pebble Beach Concept Lawn last weekend.
Featuring the original Rocket Coupe design that debuted at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show the convertible concept is based on the Ford Mustang Convertible GT. A fully integrated carbon-fibre cover hides the rear seats transforming the concept into a two-seater speedster.
The Rocket Speedster Concept sports a supercharged 725 hp V8 engine under the carbon-fibre hood that features two sculpted air intakes. The front splitter along with the large grille design allows for optimum air flow for cooling. The handcrafted bodywork incorporates various elements for enhanced aerodynamics to generate downforce.
Two additional air scoops in the rear fenders have been provided for directing fresh air towards the large 15-inch Brembo Gran Turismo high performance brakes for cooling. The Speedster features an 21-inch metallic red colour-keyed five-spoke alloy wheels.
The all carbon-fibre bodywork has been reworked to portray an aggressive stance with an inspiration from the 1960’s and early 1970’s specialty pony cars. The concept features a ‘Deep Metallic Red’ paint scheme highlighting exposed carbon-fibre elements in the hood and the rear cover.
Mr. Henrik Fisker, designer of the 2015 Speedster concept, said that he added extreme sculpture and dynamic lines that flow with the muscular body when designing the speedster cover of the Rocket. He also added that he was very excited to unveil the Rocket Speedster at the Pebble Beach concept lawn.
Like its coupe cousin, the Rocket Speedster concept is intended to feature a low-volume production run. It will be available for purchase through Galpin Ford or through hand-picked dealers across the country and around the world.
