The 2015 Volkswagen T6 has made its world debut in Amsterdam. The sixth generation T6 is as modern as it could get in features and design, both in line with the company’s latest generation vehicles. The range topping model is of course, the passenger version the Multivan. The Caravelle sits in the middle as a commercial-cum-passenger van. The base model, meant solely for commercial purposes, is the Transporter. A special edition ‘Generation SIX’ model based on the Multivan will also be offered at the market launch.
The van can be equipped with either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The diesel engine can be had with four different power outputs – 84 PS (83 hp), 102 PS (101 hp), 150 PS (148 hp) or 204 PS (201 hp). The petrol engine comes in two different power outputs – 150 PS (148 hp) or 204 PS (201 hp). The standard start-stop system helps gain 15% fuel improvement in fuel efficiency. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG, depending on the variant. 4Mption all-wheel drive system is also available.
The sixth-generation Volkswagen Transporter/Caravelle/Multivan will go on sale soon this month, and the first markets to get the van will most likely be Germany and Netherlands. Other European markets will get the van following the initial market launch, while the markets outside Europe will have to wait at least for a couple of months for the new-generation van to arrive. The all-new T6 will be built at the company’s facility in Hannover, Germany.
