Audi has released a new video of the all-new 2016 A4 saloon featuring the optional Matrix LED headlamps as a part of its pre-launch marketing initiative.
The 2016 A4 will be offered to customers with the Matrix LED headlamps that were first introduced on the A8 flagship saloon, as an option to the standard Xenon Plus head lamps.
The uniquely positioned LED’s within the headlamp unit look sharp and the eleven individual LED units require 20 watts of power to operate. The light spread in the full beam mode is produced by twelve LED’s with the help of three reflectors; the light spread is controlled by a computer which monitors the outside conditions with the help of a camera mounted on the interior rear view mirror.
The control unit commands every single LED to provide optimum lighting while maintaining safety levels in one of the 64 stages of dimming to avoid dazzling the on-coming traffic. The manufacturer claims that this allows them to enable distribution of light in millions of possible combinations.
The headlight cornering functions together with the optional MMI Navigation System to collect a database of possible corners ahead in the road with the drivers steering input. The LED headlamps also incorporate the dynamic turn signals which sequentially indicate the direction in which the vehicle is about to turn.
