The 2016 Audi Q3 has been given the Top Safety Pick rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Q3 got a “good” rating in all of the five safety tests conducted by IIHS: moderate overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints.
The 2016 Audi Q3 is comes with a plethora of standard safety and technological features. These include front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, xenon plus front lighting with LED DRLs and taillights and 18-inch wheels (with an option for 19-inch Offroad design wheels). On the inside, the car gets Alu-optic MMI controls, dual-zone automatic climate control and panoramic sunroof with power retractable sunshade. Both the exterior and interior are offered in new colors: Hainan Blue, Utopia Blue, Misano Red and Cuvee Silver. Sport and Technology packages are also available with the car.
According to IIHS, the Q3 performed admirably well in the pivotal small overlap test, with maximum intrusion of 4 inches at the lower door-hinge pillar. Moreover, the driver dummy’s movement was well-controlled and the risk of any potential injury was very limited. The tests were carried out on the 2016 Audi Q3, but IIHS states the results apply to the 2015 models as well.
It’s worth noting that the Q3 did not get the highest IIHS rating (Top Safety Pick+), which is only available on cars with front crash prevention systems.
