The 2016 Bentley Continental GT will make its North American debut at the Monterey Auto Week set to be held from August 10 to 16. Moreover, the iconic 1930 Bentley Bowler will make its presence felt at the Quail Rally while the EXP 10 Speed 6 design concept will be presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The MY2016 update for the Continental GT brings a refreshed exterior, with changes being made to the front bumper and the radiator shell to lend an aggressive look. The rear bumper has also been reworked adding width and chrome embellishments. The update also brings an option of new design 20-inch or 21-inch wheels.
Changes to the interiors are minimal with the stitching pattern on the seats being revised to a straight-fluting pattern. The Mulliner Driving Specification that is standard on the GT Speed will feature a new tightened “small diamond” quilting pattern which has been inspired from bespoke British jackets.
The 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine’s power and torque – 567 bhp and 700 Nm (531 lb-ft) respectively, have been increased to 582 bhp and 720 Nm (531 lb.-ft.) respectively. The engine upgrade has also resulted in enhanced fuel economy of 5 percent with the car returning a combined efficiency of 20 UK mpg (7 km/l) and the emissions being lowered to 329g/km of CO2.
The Quail Rally will feature the presence of the 1930 Bentley Bowler along with Bentley’s flagship model Mulsanne Speed and the 2016 Flying Spur throughout the week while the EXP 10 Speed 6 design concept will be displayed at the Concept Lawn Sunday.
