GM have announced that the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will go on sale in Spring 2016 in the U.S. The compact car will enter its second generation with the introduction of the MY2016 model. It will be based on GM’s D2XX platform and have an “atheletic build”. The sedan version will be introduced first, followed by a hatchback version later. The hatchback version will, for the first time, also be offered in the U.S. The sedan version will offer seats for 5 and have an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 35 mpg (highway).
Features offered on the 2016 Cruze will include a MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatbility, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi as standard for 6 months, and 10 airbags. Expect a new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with outputs exceeding 138 hp and 148 lb.-ft. (201 Nm) over the current 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine. In addition to the already offered 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission, a new 7-speed automatic transmission may also be offered too.
The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will be unveiled today at the Fillmore Theatre at 7 p.m. in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
