The exterior of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze has been officially revealed in a teaser image, although partially, for the first time. Along with the teaser, the company has also released some details about the car. The second generation Cruze will be larger than the current generation but the increased dimensions, won’t lead to increase in weight. The all-new model would be lighter instead, due to the switch in platform.
The 2016 Cruze will be the last of the five all-new models Chevrolet had in the pipeline for this year. The all-new Volt, Spark, Malibu and Camaro have already been shown or introduced.
The next-gen Cruze will boast new technologies, new powertrains and additional safety features. One of its major highlights in terms of technology will be compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay offered on a new 7-inch MyLink infotainment system.
Based on GM’s D2XX platform, the new generation model is said to get a new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with outputs exceeding 138 hp and 148 lb.-ft. (201 Nm) of the current 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine. A new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission can also be offered this time, in addition to the current 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed automatic transmission.
