Fiat Tipo hatchback to launch in September 2016 – UK

July 25, 2016

The Fiat Aegea/Fiat Tipo saloon will receive a hatchback and an estate version in 2016. Both 2016 Fiat Tipo Hatchback and 2016 Fiat Tipo Estate will probably debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March, Olivier Francois, Head of Fiat brand and Chief Marketing Officer reportedly said earlier this year. Both versions will be very close to the original saloon in looks.

Unlike the Tipo saloon, both Tipo hatchback and Tipo estate will be sold in the UK, says a report from Auto Express.

Citing an undisclosed source, the report claims that the 5-door Tipo hatchback will go on sale in the UK in September 2016, with prices starting at around £15,000. It will be available with 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol engines and 1.3- and 1.6-litre diesel engines. These will probably be the 95 hp 1.4 16v Fire and 110 hp 1.6 1.6v E.torQ petrol, and the 95 hp 1.3 MultiJet II and 120 hp 1.6 MultiJet II diesel engines from the Fiat Tipo saloon.

The estate version should also hit the market around the same time. Both the 2016 Fiat Tipo Hatchback and 2016 Fiat Tipo Estate will be built alongside the Tipo saloon by Tofas at the Bursa plant in Turkey where the Italian brand has been rolling out cars and commercial vehicles for Fiat Professional Vehicles.

  1. Dear car makers,

stop trying to make hatchbacks happen.

    • LOL

  2. Actually I’m all for this. If you need the size of an SUV but don’t want one, this is your best bet. It’s not exactly like the old datsun hatches of old. I’d give it a try.

  3. Fiat is impressing me in all ways lately. Also the price at £15,000 is a steal in my opinion.

  4. The 5-door is undoubtedly more practical for some. Either version looks like a good buy. Solid work for the Italian automaker.
