Ford has announced the 2016 Ford Mustang with new options and packages including the iconic trim levels – the California Special Package and Pony Package. New over-the-top racing stripes will be available on most color and trim packages, in black or silver and a painted black roof option will also be available for both EcoBoost and GT variants. The Premium Package will include the company’s latest, SYNC 3 infotainment system and the 2016 Mustang GT will get the hood vent-integrated turn signals as standard.
The Pony Package will be exclusive to Mustang EcoBoost Premium. The package includes 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, tri-bar pony logo on the grille, side stripe and chrome window surround. The fastback version with the Pony Package will arrive in late 2015.
The Mustang GT with Black Accent Package will arrive this fall. Unlike the Pony Package, this one will be available for both fastback and GT versions. It includes 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black decklid spoiler, dark taillamp trim, and ‘5.0’ and pony logos in black.
The California Package can be ordered by Mustang GT Premium owners. It includes unique grille with tri-bar pony logo, performance front splitter, hood and side stripes, black-painted hood vents and mirrors, 19-inch ebony-painted machined aluminum wheels, black pedestal spoiler, dark taillamp accents, unique faux gas cap, strut tower brace with unique California Special badging, Ebony leather/Miko suede seat inserts with red contrast stitching and embossed logo and unique door panel inserts and premium carpet with contrast stitching.
The Mustang GT convertible model (manual transmission equipped) owners can also order a Performance Package, for MY2016. This package offers increased structural bracing. Noteworthy features of this package include more aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler, unique tuning for stability control, ABS and electric power-assisted steering, larger radiator, 19×9-inch front, 19×9.5-inch rear ebony-painted aluminum wheels with summer tires, revised suspension with upsized rear sway bar, heavy-duty front springs, six-piston Brembo front brake calipers, unique chassis tuning, with strut tower brace and K-brace, Torsen® limited-slip differential with 3.73 axle ratio and engine-turned aluminum instrument panel with auxiliary gauges.
