GMC is giving its ageing Savana updates for the 2016 model year. The changes to the Savana are
similar to those seen on the 2016 Chevrolet Express. GMC had discontinued the half-ton Savana 1500 this year and the Savana 2500 and Savana 3500 will get the updates.
Every model from the Savana Passenger and Savana Cargo to the Savana Cargo Paratransit and Savana Cutaway receives the following updates: New, more powerful 220-amp alternator (optional), Dual isolated battery system (optional), AM/FM radio with auxiliary port remains standard, also an optional GMC IntelliLink radio with navigation (not available on Savana Cargo Paratransit) with NavTraffic replaces the legacy AM/FM stereo with MP3 CD/DVD player and navigation system.
The 2016 Savana also gets OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi, inside rear-view mirror with Rear Vision Camera display and six standard airbags, including frontal, side curtain and seat-mounted units.
The 2016 GMC Savana Passenger also gets an optional isolated second battery system. The 8-passenger, 2-3-3 seating configuration has been discontinued. The 160-amp alternator can be replaced with an optional 220-amp unit.
The 2016 GMC Savana Cutaway, Cargo Paratransit and the Savana Cargo replace the 160-amp alternator with a 220-amp unit. They also get, an optional isolated second battery system, a new inside rear-view mirror with an integrated rear-view camera, and new optional single-pane black outside mirrors that are heated and power-adjustable.
