GMC has announced the facelifted version of the 2016 Sierra sporting changes to the styling along with added safety features. The new 2016 Sierra gets additional styling and greater visual distinction among Sierra models with the addition of Elevation Edition and All-Terrain packages.
The LED signature (HID) projector-beam headlamps will be offered as standard on the base model, SLE and SLT. The Sierra Denali and SLT models add high-performance LED headlamps with LED signature. Thin-profile LED fog lamps will be offered as standard on the Sierra SLT, Sierra Denali and All Terrain models. New LED taillamps will be offered as standard on the SLT, Sierra Denali and All Terrain models.
The 2016 Sierra will also add a Driver Alert Package that features next generation safety systems like IntelliBeam headlamp control and Lane Keep Assist. The Driver Alert Package will be available on the SLT and Sierra Denali models.
The 2016 Sierra will feature GMC IntelliLink infotainment system with enhanced connectivity options. It features the incorporation of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allowing users to integrate their smartphones into the infotainment system for a seamless experience. The infotainment system will sport a 7-inch screen at the commencement of production and will be available with an 8-inch screen later on in the model year.
A range of EcoTec3 engines will power the 2016 GMC Sierra line-up, including a 4.3-litre V6 producing 285 hp (212 kW), a 5.3-litre V8 producing 355 hp (250 kW) and the top of the line 6.2-litre V8 making 420 hp (313 kW) of power. The 6.2-litre V8 engine offered in the 2016 Sierra Denali is the most powerful in the light-duty pick-up class. The 6.2-litre engine will be mated to a Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission. The Hydra-Matic automatic transmission will now also be made available in the 5.8-litre V8 engine.
