The exterior of the tenth generation 2016 Honda Civic sedan has been spied undisguised ahead of its official unveiling on September 16. The North American-spec 2016 Civic sedan was spotted by a CivicX.com forum member in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the USA.
As expected, the production-spec next-gen Civic sedan is very close to the Civic Concept from which it has evolved, save for some structural changes (for sedan) and tweaks necessary to make it road-going and affordable for the mass market.
The tenth generation Honda Civic will be based on the a new compact platform that targets new peak levels of dynamic performance, efficiency, safety and manufacturing productivity. The all-new Civic range in North America will comprise of Civic sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic Si sedan, Civic Si Coupe and Civic Type R.
The North American-spec 2016 Honda Civic sedan will come with a variety of engine options, including a new 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine featuring Earth Dreams Technology. The new turbocharged gasoline engine will be available with a short-shifting 6-speed manual transmission, and a sportier and more efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The North American-spec 2016 Civic sedan will be built at Honda’s plant in Greensburg, Indiana in USA, and in Alliston, Ontario in Canada. The Coupe version and Si variants that arrive next year, will also be built in Alliston.
