Honda has taken the wraps off the U.S.-spec 2016 Honda Civic sedan in a unique fashion. The tenth generation Honda Civic sedan is the first-ever vehicle to have debuted at the YouTube Space LA. The all-new model is designed from the ground up.
The 2016 Honda Civic sports sleek and swept-back body line with a more athletic stance. The front of the vehicle features an aggressive face, new LED headlamps, LED daytime unning lamps and unique C-shaped LED taillamps.
The all-new Civic sedan is nearly 1-inch lower and 2-inches wider, and has a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase than the model it replaces. The interior has been designed to offer comfort and a premium-feel with the use of high quality materials. Standard features include automatic climate control, Walk-Away auto door locks, electronic parking brake with Brake Hold and reconfigurable new centre console with up to 7.2-litres of storage space. EX and above trim levels feature piano black finish and sliver bezel on the centre console, LED overhead lighting, a new full-colour TFT centre meter, leather shift boot and LED shift indicator.
The top of the line trim levels add 4-way power front passenger’s seat, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated side mirrors and heated front and rear seats. With the cabin having grown by 3.7 cu. ft. in size for a class-leading space, the rear legroom has resultantly increased by 2 inches. The trunk space has also been increased by 2.6 cu. ft.
Like in the recently updated Accord, the infotainment system in the 2016 Civic will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration with support for features like messaging, phone, maps and music. The 7-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system offers an array of other entertainment and connectivity features.
With the 2016 Civic, Honda is introducing a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine for the first time in the U.S market. With this turbocharged engine, the 2016 Civic will be the most powerful non-Si Civic in North America. The EX-T, EX-L trim levels and Touring trim levels will be powered by the 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine and this engine will be mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The LX and EX trim levels will be powered by a 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine which will be mated to either a 6-speed manual (LX trim) or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). More details will be revealed closer to market launch, which is scheduled to happen this Fall.
