Lamborghini has announced that the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce (SV) Roadster will be unveiled at the ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ on August 14th, during the 2015 Monterey Car Week. The production of the Aventador SV Roadster will be limited to 500 units and in the build up to the launch, Top Speed has published its near-production rendering.
The Aventador SV Roadster is more or less the drop-top version of the coupe, featuring a similar aggressive-looking apron and rear fascia. Meanwhile, the removable top and the restyled engine hood give the Roadster its unique identity. Moreover, in the spy shots, we did not see the large rear spoiler present in the Aventador SV coupe and Lamborghini may do without it in the Roadster. The interior isn’t expected to get many changes, except for those needed for weight reduction.
Under the hood, the Aventador SV Roadster is likely to get a retuned version of the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine offered in the standard variant, with power output bumped up to 750 hp – same as the Aventador SV coupe. This engine produces 690 hp (515 kW) and 690 Nm of torque on the standard variant. The extreme variant will reportedly be 50 kg lighter than the standard Roadster, but 50 kg heavier than the coupe’s SV variant. It is expected to hit 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds have a top speed of 356 km/h (221 mph).
