Mazda has announced that the all-new 2016 Mazda CX-9 will have its world premiere at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show that will take place from November 17 to November 29.
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 will be built on the familiar Kodo “Soul of Motion” design language and will have a more premium design execution perfectly suitable for a three-row mid-size crossver. That is all the information the automaker is willing to release as of now.
The company has released a teaser image that shows the new generation model having an upright face dominated by the large grille with vertical slats and outlined in chrome. Other design features include angular headlights, a long bonnet, prominent wheel arches and an upswept beltline.
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 will reportedly be powered by a new 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Transmission options are expected to include SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual and SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed Sport automatic. The current Mazda CX-9 sports a 3.7-liter naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine that churns out 273 hp and 270 lb.-ft. (366 Nm) of torque. The V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic unit. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrain configurations are offered.
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 should go on sale in first markets by early 2016. More details will be released along with the world premiere.
