Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of ‘mbrace Connect’ for all its 2016 MY vehicles in the USA. The connected services will be offered on all vehicles as standard equipment for five years, along with three optional packages called mbrace Secure, mbrace Concierge and mbrace entertain.
The mbrace connect service offers the consumers the ability to connect via the mbrace mobile App, mbrace web services, non–streaming Mercedes-Benz apps and remote updates. It adds the functionality of the technicians being able to run remote diagnostics without the need of the vehicle being taken to the dealership.
Owners of electric and hybrid models will get access to the Vehicle Homepage that provides information like vehicle charge levels and nearby charging stations remotely. The mbrace mobile app allows the owner to Remote Start the vehicle’s engine to precondition the cabin based on the last climate control setting using a smartphone. This feature will be available in the 2016 C-Class, S-Class, GLC and GLE.
The mbrace Security package adds a range of security features like stolen vehicle location, emergency crash notification and automatic alarm notification. The package is offered with a free six month subscription with a new vehicle. Subsequently the owners can renew the package at a cost of $ 199 per year.
The mbrace Concierge and mbrace Entertain packages will be offered with a three month trial period. The mbrace Concierge aims to offer consumers a ‘personal assistant’ with 24/7 support for traffic and weather updates based on location and turn-by-turn route assistance.
The mbrace Entertain package provides access to web streaming apps, including the new MY2016 specific iHeartRadio App set to debut this fall. This package will also add an in-vehicle WiFi hotspot. Owners can continue these services after the three month trial period for $20 per month for mbrace Concierge and $18 per month for the mbrace Entertain. The packages can also be subscribed together for a discounted rate of $28 per month.
