The sixth generation Mercedes SL-Class was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January 2012. Three years later, the grand tourer is now ready for a facelift to adopt the company’s latest design and technologies. The facelifted model is currently undergoing global testing and a report from Mercedes-Benz Passion claims that the facelift will be up for pre-orders in December, hinting at a Los Angeles show debut for the car.
Deliveries will commence in March 2016, as per the report.
The facelifted model will feature changes with the headlights, grille, bumpers, side skirts and taillights – all inspired by the S-Class. Interior changes may involve technical upgrades like new navigation and some visual revisions, but it won’t be a full revamp. The engine options will probably remain unchanged.
The currently offered engine options on the Mercedes SL-Class are:
- Mercedes SL400 – 3.0-litre biturbo V6 producing 329 hp and 480 Nm of torque
- Mercedes SL550 – 4.7-litre biturbo V8 producing 429 hp and 700 Nm of torque
- Mercedes SL63 AMG – 5.5-litre AMG biturbo V8 producing 577 hp and 900 Nm of torque
- Mercedes SL65 AMG – 6.0-litre AMG biturbo V8 producing 621 hp and 1001 Nm of torque
