The next-generation MINI Convertible has leaked in a batch of images of patent drawings. The patent drawings reveal the front, rear, side and top of the 3-door MINI Convertible.
Engine options for the Mini with the fabric roof are expected to be borrowed from the 3-door and 5-door versions of the UKL1 platform-hatch. Thus, the engine lineup would include the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder and 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engines and 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter diesel engines.
A John Cooper Works edition of the next-generation MINI Convertible is also in the works. The performance-spec model is already under testing in Europe. Reports point out that the John Cooper Works edition will sport a force-fed 2.0-litre inline four cylinder engine. Power output figures are rated at 228 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The power will be sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
