2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to debut at 2015 IAA

Mitsubishi has revealed the Euro-spec 2016 Outlander PHEV and announced thatit  will make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The event will also witness the introduction of the rally version of the Outlander PHEV which is set to compete in the Baja Portalegre 500 cross-country rally from 22nd October 2015.

The facelifted Outlander will sport the ‘Dynamic Shield’ front facia design that has been introduced in the recent models launched by the company. It will add LED daytime running lamps housed in the LED headlamp unit. The facelift also adds new embellishments like side garnish and bumper extensions to further enhance its visual appeal.

The rear of the new Outlander features rear combination lamps with LED stop-lamps. The revised model will sport new 18-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels for a sporty look.

The interiors will now sport an additional colour choice with a brown leather trim, in addition to the existing black leather trim. The door adds additional padding while the seats and door trim will feature contrast stitching. The updated model also features four spoke steering wheel in leather with audio controls and revamped dashboard featuring black lacquer inserts.

There’s a new Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) infotainment system with features like Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Noteowrthy safety and assistance features include Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System and a Multi-Around Monitor.

The company informs that the facelifted model will additionally feature lower levels of NVH with 30 improvements including the use of sound absorbing materials and dynamic dampers. Additionally, the door seals have been modified to give an impression of better build quality.

The 2016 Outlander will also feature improvements in ride and handling with enhanced steering response and changes made to the suspension for stability. The rear suspension cross member has been reinforced to reduce road noise.

The Mitsubishi stand at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) will also include vehicles like the Pajero, ASX, Lancer Sportback, i-MiEV, Space Star and the L200 Double Cab.
