The next generation Opel/Vauxhall Astra has been confirmed to debut at the 2015 International Motor Show which is to be held in Frankfurt from September 17 to 27. Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann will unveil the all-new model which according to him, will feature “an awesome design”, highest efficiency and many innovations.
Although the exterior dimensions will be reduced, the cabin space will be increased considerably. The company says that its engineering teams in charge of the all-new model have “dramatically” reduced the all-new model’s weight for more agility and reduced fuel consumption.
The CEO also confirmed that the new generation Astra range will be powered only by new generation state-of-the-art engines and suggested that like the previous generations, this one also will raise the level of safety, comfort and efficiency. It will be the first new Opel car to be launched featuring Opel OnStar 24x7x365 service.
Following its debut in Frankfurt, the all-new Astra can be expected to hit the European market by year-end or in early 2016. Australia, New Zealand and other overseas markets which get the Astra under the Holden and Buick brand, can expect the model to be launched by mid-2016.
