Here’s a near-production rendering from Auto Bild magazine of Germany previewing how the range-topping standard 2016 Renault Megane would look like. Of course, there a hotter RS variant that should follow it.
With the MY2016 model, the Megane will enter its fourth generation this year. It will be underpinned by the same iteration of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF (Common Module Family) platform as the Talisman – CMF-C/D. This platform will allow for cost reductions to the tune of 30%. A significant weight reduction is also expected owing to this platform, and features are likely to be carried over from the Talisman, albeit keeping costs considerations in mind.
The Megane sedan version was axed beginning with the third generation but reports say that it’ll be back with the fourth generation’s arrival. The Megane coupe-cabriolet version is likely to be dropped due to the sluggishness in its segment.
We reported exclusively in May that Laurens Van Acker, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, Renault, has confirmed that the 2016 Renault Megane will have its world premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) in September. The company will also present the Talisman saloon for the first time to the public and unveil the Talisman estate here.
