As expected, the 2016 Renault Megane has been officially revealed following the official image gallery leak. Renault has released just seven images though, half that of the leaked ones and saved the interior for later. The Megane has now entered the fourth generation and boasts the brand’s new design language seen on the latest models including the Talisman, Talisman Estate, Kadjar and Espace. The 2016 Megane range will include a GT variant too, from Renault Sport.
The front fascia boasts the new familiar face with the new radiator grille similar to the Kadjar & Espace and C-shaped headlamps similar to the Talisman and Talisman Estate. The GT variant gets a differentiated face with black upper and lower grille and also a GT badge on the upper grille, Dark Metal bumper guards, and sportier air scoops. The all-new model sits 25 mm lower and the front track has been widened by 47 mm.
The all-new model features a 28 mm longer wheelbase and a shorter overhang. The side profile is subtle and simplistic, and features sleek door mirrors with integrated turn indicators, chrome embellishments on the beltline and fender, and sporty alloy wheels. The GT variant that will be available in new Iron Blue body paint gets Dark Metal touch on the body-coloured door mirrors and sportier 18-inch aluminum wheels developed specially for the model by Renault Sport.
The rear fascia features tail lamps that run from the quarter panels across the tail gate to end just before touching the Renault diamond emblem in the centre. The rear track has been widened by 39 mm. The sportier bumper gets aggressive on the GT variant with a rear diffuser and dual trapezoidal exhaust pipes housed in it. Both standard and GT variants feature a roof-mounted spoiler. The GT variant gets ‘Renault Sport’ and ‘GT’ badging on the tailgate, while the standard variant gets ‘Megane’ badging in the centre below the Renault logo.
Renault hasn’t revealed the interior but we know from the leaked images that it will be similar to the latest Renaults. Engine specifications and other technical details as well as the interior will be revealed in the coming days. The 2016 Renault Megane will have its world premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) this month.
