It was confirmed just last week by Laurens Van Acker, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, Renault, that the 2016 Renault Megane IV will have its world debut at the 2015 International Motor Show (2015 Frankfurt Motor Show) in September. It will reportedly be launched in the market in January 2016.
Now a report from Auto-Moto claims that the next generation Megane RS will launch soon after the standard version, between spring and summer of 2016.
According to the report, like the Clio IV, the 2016 Renault Megane (and the 2016 Renault Megane RS) will also be offered exclusively with a 5-door body. The rear door handles can be expected to be hidden behind the rear window panels to make it look like a sporty 3-door hatchback, as seen in case of the Clio IV. The sportier version will gain side skirts, special rims, and other performance and styling parts.
Rumour has it that under the hood, there will be a 1.6-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine and a 50-hp electric motor for eliminating lag at low engine speeds. The all-new 2016 Megane RS should be capable of 0-100 km/h in under 6 seconds and clocking a top speed of around 270 km/h, as per the report.
