Here’s a close to production-spec rendering for the 2016 Skoda Roomster from our sister publication Indian Autos Blog. The second generation Skoda Roomster’s rendering is based on the test mules wearing production body spied in Europe last month.
It was reported in February this year that the next generation Roomster will be based on the fourth generation VW Caddy that was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March. According to this report, Jozef Kaban, chief of Skoda Auto Design, said that the using the VW Caddy’s platform will allow for the MPV to grow and be more spacious.
Mr. Kaban said that being based on the VW Caddy doesn’t mean that Skoda is entering the commercial market; only the passenger version will be sold.
With the new generation, the Roomster will gain a top-hat similar to the VW Caddy, including sliding rear doors, and adopt the brand’s new design language seen on the third generation Superb. As with the previous generation model, the 2016 Roomster should be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.
