Toyota has released pricing and all the details of the third-gen 2016 Tacoma for the U.S. market . This is the vehicle’s first major overhaul since a decade and it goes on sale next month with prices starting from US$23,300.
There are two engine options available on the all-new Tacoma: a 2.7-liter four-cylinder motor that produces 159 hp and 216 Nm of torque, and a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 278 hp and 359 Nm of torque; both are gasoline ones. Both the engines will be matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission with electronic shift. The V6 can also be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and the four-cylinder to a 5-speed manual. Moreover, the 4WD system can be picked with either of the engines.
Talking about the exterior of the car, it takes some influence from its sibling Tundra with the chiseled face and the hex grille. The front bumper has been redesigned and the headlights are available with LED daytime running lights. The rear fascia has been restyled to give a wider and tougher stance. There is also an integrated spoiler to improve the aerodynamics and a stamped Tacoma logo. Toyota will provide options for 16- to 18-inch wheels on the new model.
The cabin has modern instruments and the buyers will be given a host of premium features that include wireless charging, smart key with push-button star, leather-trimmed seats, moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, enhanced touchscreen audio and blind-spot monitor with traffic alert. There’s also a new 6.1-inch infotainment screen with the Entune Multimedia System.
The third generation Tacoma will be offered in 29 configurations and two cab types: the extended Access Cab and four-door Double Cab. There will be five model grades, each having its unique look.
The new Tacoma will be available in eight exterior colors, including three new colors: Quicksand, Inferno, and Blazing Blue Pearl. Additional off-road features include Locking Rear Differential, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Clutch Start Cancel (manual transmission only), Active Traction Control, and Crawl Control.
