The 2016 VW Tiguan has been caught completely undisguised in Vancouver, Canada by a Carscoops reader Sean. The second generation Tiguan was taken out of camouflage for a promotional shoot, apparently.
At the first sight, the all-new model appears to be strikingly bold and sporty, a leap ahead in terms of design and styling from the first generation. The boxy structure has been replaced by a more curvaceous design, as suggested by the rear fascia. The MQB-platform based next generation model seems to have gotten larger too.
The photos don’t reveal the front fascia. The side profile and rear-end both bear striking resemblance to the Cross Coupe GTE concept that was unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in January. The model spotted here is the regular five seater version.
Reports say that a long-wheelbase, 7-seat version dubbed as the ‘VW Tiguan XL’ as well as a coupe-styled ‘VW Tiguan CC’ could also arrive at later dates. The Tiguan XL will be launched in 2017 and will be followed by the Tiguan CC in 2018, as per a report.
The 2016 VW Tiguan will debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) this month and likely go on sale in VW’s strong markets early next year.
