Ford has released a video showing a prototype of the all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor being tested in the rugged trails of northern Michigan, USA. The Detroit-based automaker has dubbed the new F-150 Raptor as the most capable Raptor till date with it being the able to tackle various challenging terrains.
The video shows an early engineering prototype of the 2017 Raptor tackling tight trails, slippery terrain and log climbs. Ruts and bumps are dispatched with equal aplomb with the prototype also wading through pond towards the end of the video highlighting its capability. Ford informs that their engineering team has been extensively testing different components of the F-150 Raptor for reliability and performance over challenging terrain.
The next generation Ford F-150 Raptor will feature a higher ground clearance than the previous generation model. It will be equipped with a new 3.0-inch Fox Racing Shox suspension that features custom internal bypass technology. The technology used in the suspension setup will work to damp and stiffen the ride while going over uneven terrain.
The all-new Raptor will also feature a new and improved four-wheel drive system with a torque-on-demand transfer case, to enhance the vehicle’s off-road performance. The new transfer case distributes power between the front and rear wheels, combining the characteristics of modern clutch-driven, on-demand AWD systems with the durability of mechanical-locking 4WD systems. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will go on sale in Fall 2016.
