Even after the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro finally arriving in the U.S. later this year, many Camaro enthusiasts will be waiting, for meaner Chevrolet Camaro Z28 variant launching in the market possibly in 2017 or at the most in 2018.
An early rendering from GM Authority‘s digital artists shows with what modifications the Z28 variant could probably be launched.
The GM-focused publication’s rendering features the following exterior modifications:-
- Larger, high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes
- Lightweight wheels wrapped in more grippy, high-performance tires
- Aerodynamic enhancements including hood air extractor, track-focused front splitter and side sills, front brake cooling ducts in place of LED fog lights, a ‘Flowtie’ in place of the Golden Bowtie on the upper grille and “proficient” rear spoiler and diffuser.
The non-visible changes on the sixth-gen Camaro’s Z28 variant will include a more beastly powertrain. The currently sold fifth-gen model’s Z28 variant is powered by the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine from the previous-gen Corvette Z06. The all-new Corvette’s Z06 variant is powered by a 650-hp 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, so the next Camaro Z28 should also sport this same engine, with power output being somewhere between 526 hp (to beat the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang) to 600 hp.
