The current 5-seat SsangYong Tivoli has long been known to spawn a bigger 7-seat version and a test mule spotted in Europe by CocheSpias forum member Heria reaffirms that such version is in the works for production.
The spyshot reveals that the side profile is similar to the Tivoli till the C-Pillar, after which the body significantly extends. The tail lamps are also similar to the Tivoli.
The three-row version is said to be named ‘SsangYong Tivoli XL’. The SsangYong XLV-Air concept that will be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) tomorrow will likely preview a near-production prototype of the same. Being a more family-oriented vehicle, the Tivoli XL (name unconfirmed) would come with more comfort and convenience features, and maybe more driver assistance features as well.
Engine options would more or less be the same as the Tivoli. The Tivoli (UK-spec) is offered with a 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 128 PS (126 hp) and 160 Nm of torque, and a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS (113 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. Transmission options would include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Similarly, like the Tivoli, both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options would be offered on the crossover.
The new 7-seat crossover from SsangYong should be launched in South Korea sometime next year, followed by the availability in global markets.
