Alfa Romeo has updated the entire range of engines offered in the Giulietta hatchback in the UK.
The 1.6L JTDM-2 engine adds a variable geometry Turbocharger and produces 120 hp, 15 hp more than the earlier version. As a result, the 0-62 mph time has dropped by 1.3 seconds to 10 seconds, and increases the top-speed by 6 mph to 121 mph (194.73 kmph). It offers a combined fuel economy of 74.3 MPG (26.30 kmpl) which has increased from 70.6 MPG (24.99 kmpl) in the previous version, thanks to some help from the low resistance tyres. There is a drop in emissions from 104g/km to 99g/km and the 1.6L JTDM-2 complies with EU6 emission regulations.
The petrol engines are also complaint with the emission regulations, the entry level 1.4L TB turbo petrol puts out 120 hp and the 1.4L TB MultiAir Turbo petrol is available in 150 hp and 170 hp states of tune. The 1750 TBi (also available on Alfa 4C) makes 240 hp that powers the high performance Quadrifoglio Verde version. The reduction in emissions and increase in economy has resulted in the reduction of one percent BIK (Benefit-In-Kind). The recently introduced 150 hp 2.0L JTDM-2 Turbo diesel dosen’t comply with the EU6 emission regulations.
The price of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta range remains unchanged; the 1.4L TB 120hp Progression starts at £18,450 OTR, the 1.6L JTDM-2 120hp Progression is priced from £19,500 OTR. The 1.6L JTDM-2 120hp turbo diesel Business Edition range starts at £19,080 OTR. The Business Edition of the Giulietta gets a 6.5-inch touch screen Uconnect infotainment system, 3D mapping and DAB digital radio, voice activated satellite navigation; front and rear parking sensors, automatic lights and alloy wheels as standard.
