At the 2015 New York International Auto Show, Reid Bigland, head of Alfa Romeo brand in North America, said that the company’s new D-segment sedan will be revealed in Milan, Italy, on June 24 and go on sale in the U.S.A in Q1 2016, claims a new report from Automotive News Europe. This confirms the speculation made from March, that the new D-segment sedan will premiere on the automaker’s 105th birthday. The sedan is likely to be named ‘Giulia’.
The head of the Italian brand also said that the performance of this car would exceed that of the segment dominating cars such as the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. Once the first sedans arrive in the U.S.A, more trims will be added in the following months, which suggests that a high-performance version is also planned. According to the previous report, the sedan will be offered with rear-wheel drive/four-wheel drive options and a choice of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines.
The fresh report also reveals that a D-segment SUV will also be launched in Q4 2016 or early 2017 in the U.S., to rival the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the very popular Porsche Macan. The company will also start selling the 4C Spider from summer 2015 in the U.S.
