Ben Collins is a top stunt and racing driver, but he is best known playing the role of the “Stig” in BBC’s Top Gear show. In his new film called “Ben Collins: Stunt Driver”, in which he drives various sports cars in order to find out the perfect car for a “high octane Hollywood chase,” the Ford Mustang comes out on top as his choice for the “Ultimate Stunt Car.”
The Mustang powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine slugs it out with other high-performance cars in a 48-hour explosive, high-speed challenge that saw participation from aerobatic planes, helicopter gunships and military machines. The muscle car helped Collins to evade baddies in the movie, made possible with its front and rear suspension systems that feature integral link independent rear suspension and standard performance brake packages inside the 19‑inch wheels. Faster gear changes are possible with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox that comes with paddle shifters. Handling is made crisper due to a lightweight and responsive chassis that is capable of pulling 0.97 g in corners.
Voicing his thoughts Collins said, “Mustang has starred in many a classic car chase during the past 50 years, and is still the stunt driver’s weapon of choice to leave the bad guys standing in a cloud of tyre smoke.”
Ford has also announced that more than 10,000 Mustangs have been sold in Europe since it went on sale there in January 2015.
