Here’s a rendering of the Renault Kadjar RS by Julien Jodry from Auto-Moto that looks more realistic with cues borrowed from the Clio RS than the previous one floated in March. The hotter variant, work of the in-house performance division Renaultsport, is said to be planned for a 2016 release.
Why a Renault Captur RS variant?
The sister brand’s sub-compact counterpart Juke is offered with such a variant – the Juke NISMO, tuned by NISMO. Another rival Mini Countryman is also offered similarly with a John Cooper Works variant. Moreover, the Italian competitor Fiat 500X is also tipped to get an Abarth high performance variant. So, willingly or under competitive pressure, Renault could launch the Renaultsport-tuned Captur RS next year.
Technical specifications expected:
The Renault Captur RS, if made, should be equipped with the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine from the Clio RS that produces 147 kW (200 hp) and 240 Nm of torque on the latter. The 1.6T Renault Sport 200 engine, as with the hatchback, should come exclusively with the 6-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission. The drive modes should include a new ‘race’ mode for quicker gearshifts and of course, a sound simulator that allows the user to choose from different engine sounds, which Renault calls the R-Sound Effect, should also be on board.
