A new rendering from Auto Moto previews how an Maserati Quattroporte-rivaling Mercedes-AMG GT4 could look like. The GT-based rendering draws some inspiration from the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that was unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
As reported earlier, Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers has said that a family of derivatives of the GT will be launched. Along with a Roadster model, a four-door sports coupe model is one possibility. The GT4 can share its platform and wheelbase with the next generation CLS that is expected to arrive in 2018.
If made, the GT4 can be expected in two variants – GT4 (standard) and GT4 S. The same 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine that powers the AMG GT is likely to be offered. The power, though, would be uprated to a figure possibly lying between 550 hp to 650 hp, good enough to compete with the Audi RS7 and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The roadster version is more likely to be the first one to hit the market, sometime in 2017 and the four door sports coupe version should go on sale a year or two later.
