In a move to expand the SQ5 TDI performance range, Audi has introduced a more powerful model – SQ5 TDI plus.
The exterior of the SQ5 TDI plus features gloss black door mirrors, door handles and rear spoiler. The rear fascia also features clasps that join the quad exhaust tips into pairs. The plus model rides on 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels shod with 255/40R21 tyres. The interiors also exude luxury with seat upholstery in fine Nappa leather and a silver diamond pattern. The door trims and the arm rests have also been trimmed in leather. The cabin features sliding rear seats to increase variability, aiding in an enlarged luggage compartment when necessary.
The SQ5 TDI plus features the same 3.0-litre engine that is available in the SQ5 TDI, but has been upgraded with an increased injection pressure for enhanced output. The upgrade has resulted in increased power output of 27 hp and 50 Nm of torque respectively, with the SQ5 TDI plus producing a total of 340 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque.
This enables the high performance variant to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.1 seconds and achieve an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h (153 mph). The increased performance has not hampered fuel efficiency, with the engine managing to return 15.13 km/l (35.6 mpg) in the NEDC cycle with CO2 emissions of 174 g/km.
The SQ5 TDI plus will feature a sport differential which helps in distributing power efficiently to the wheels working with the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The company informs that this will be the first time a sport differential will be offered in the Q5 range.
Additionally, the SQ5 TDI plus will be offered with a special package dubbed ‘Audi exclusive selection macaw blue’, which will be limited to only 100 units. The package includes a customised macaw blue exterior paint scheme while the cabin features sport seats in black Nappa leather with macaw blue contrast stitching. The special package also features trim inserts in aluminium/Beaufort and black finishes, while the contrast stitching will be carried over to the steering wheel, gear selector and floor mats.
The Audi SQ5 TDI plus is priced at €67,700 in Germany and will go on sale next month. The Audi exclusive selection macaw blue package will cost an additional €12,000 and will be available at launch.
