November 12, 2015

Audi has announced that it will be bringing three performance models to the 2015 LA Auto Show (2015 Los Angeles Auto Show), which begins on November 20. These models are the 2017 Audi R8, 2016 Audi RS7 Performance and 2016 Audi S8 Plus.

The second generation of the R8 will make its US auto show debut. Billed as the fastest and most powerful Audi of all time, the 2017 R8 has been co-developed with the Audi R8 LMS racecar. It is said to share 50% of its parts with the racecar that also includes the V10 engine.

The R8 will come in two variants – standard and V10 Plus, both of them deriving power from the naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 powerhouse. The Standard grade produces 540 hp and 540 Nm (398 lb.-ft.) of torque while the Plus variant improves on that figure and is capable of 610 hp and 560 Nm (413 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. Both trims are paired to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The 2017 R8 will go on sale in spring of 2016 with prices yet to be disclosed.

The 2016 Audi RS7 Performance brings more power to the Audi RS7 Sportback. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo TFSI V8 has been fettled with to provide even more power. This means output has gone up to 605 hp (445 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb.-ft.) of torque. The torque figure can be pushed even further, to 750 Nm (553 lb.-ft.) in a temporary overboost functionality. The drive is sent to all wheels through the Quattro system and the 8-speed tiptronic gearbox.

The last of the performance models on display is the 2016 Audi S8 Plus, and shares the mechanicals and performance figures of the RS7 Performance. Both of these car’s US pricing is also not yet known.
