Audi has announced a new base level variant of its popular SUV the Q7 that is now available for order with deliveries set to begin in September 2015. The new Q7 Ultra will feature an efficient 3.0 litre TDI diesel engine with enhanced fuel economy and a lower price starting from 58,000 Euros ($62,982).
Audi explains that models that feature the ‘Ultra’ suffix in the name will achieve better economy and emission figures than the regular models in the line up. The Q7 Ultra features a high efficiency 3.0 litre TDI diesel engine that produces 218 hp (160 kW) of power and 500 Nm (368.8 lb-ft) of torque in the range of 1,250 rpm to 3,000 rpm.
The new engine includes changes made to the engine management system along with tuning the combustion process to increase efficiency. The engine also features a reworked oil cooler and water pump.
The 3.0 litre TDI engine in the Q7 Ultra variant consumes 5.5 litres/100 km (42.8 mpg U.S.) with CO2 emissions being 144g/km which is 28 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor. The SUV achieves 0-100 kmph in 7.1 seconds reaching a top speed of 216 kmph (134.2 mph).
The Q7 range also includes a 3.0 litre TFSI petrol engine that produces 333 hp (245 kW) of power and a 3.0 litre TDI diesel unit that produces 272 hp (200 kW) of power. Audi maintains that the new engine offered in the Ultra variant is significantly different from the 3.0 litre TDI engine that is also offered in the Q7 range.
