The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta is now on sale in Australia. With the 2015 model, the base version from the last year’s model has been axed and instead, the price of the next Progression trim has been lowered.
The Progression trim of the 2015 model features 16-inch 5-twinspoke alloy wheels, electrically folding door mirrors, driver’s seat with electric lumbar adjustment, rear seat armrest, Blue&Me voice-controlled Bluetooth system. Under the hood, there’s a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 88 kW (120 hp) and 215 Nm of torque, coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox. With this configuration, the car reaches 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres.
The middle-range Distinctive trim features 17-inch turbine design alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, TomTom navigation, Blue&Me, 8-speaker sound system automatic dual zone climate control, humidity and odour detection device, electrochromatic rear view mirror and rear seat ventilation ducts. The Distinctive trim is powered by a more powerful 1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 125 kW (170 hp) and 250 Nm of torque and enables the hatchback to reach 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 litre per 100 kilometres. 6-speed manual transmission is standard, but a 6-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission can be chose optionally for additional AUD 2,000.
Media systems in both the trims have been updated to a 5.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen. Distinctive trim has an option to upgrade to a 6.5-inch navigation system with 3D mapping for additional AUD$1,500. Both the trims feature revised seats and better quality materials and a new steering wheel.
The range-topping Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) trim sports 18-inch “8C Competizione” alloy wheels, sports suspension, Red Brembo brake capilers, Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and washer jets, privacy tinted glass, leather and microfiber seats with red stitching, leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, aluminum sports pedals, dark brushed aluminum dash insert and QV logo. This trim will arrive in the first quarter of 2015. Thus, as of now, the Distinctive trim can be said to be the range-topper.
The 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is priced at AUS $29,000 (excluding on-road costs) in Progression trim and at AUS $33,000 (excluding on-road costs) in Distinctive trim.
