August 18, 2015

Toyota Australia has announced that the 2016 Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series will be launched in the second half of October.

The facelifted LandCruiser 200 will feature improvements to the V8 engines, with both the diesel and petrol units being optimised to adhere to Euro 5 emission norms. The twin-turbo diesel unit will produce more power while also featuring an increase in fuel efficiency.

The improved 4.5 litre twin-turbo diesel engine gets new injectors, diesel particulate filter (DPF) and revised mapping. The improvement to the engine has increased the power output by 2.5% or 5 kW (7 hp). The engine puts out a total of 200 kW (268 hp) of power while torque remains unchanged at 650 Nm. Fuel economy along with emissions has improved by 8% with the SUV returning 10.53 km/l in combined cycle.

The 4.6 litre petrol V8 engine features a new air-injection system that helps reduce emissions by inducing secondary air through the exhaust ports, also aiding in quicker warm-up from a cold start. The engine employs variable valve timing on the inlet and exhaust ports enabling it to produce 227 kW (304 hp) and 439 Nm of torque.

The exterior of the new LandCruiser 200 features a new grille, in a hexagonal shape with triple horizontal bars. The front gets a muscular and aggressive look with an imposing stance aided by the new projector-style headlamps. Side protection mouldings and door handles have also been revised. The rear gets a redesigned upper-tailgate and bumper along with tail lamps, mudguards and reflectors.

The interiors feature soft padding for occupants with special attention given to the thickness of materials and the treatment of edges. The layout has been redesigned with dials and switches that have been reshaped and placed to make them easier to use. The VX and Sahara trims get a newly designed Optitron instrument cluster with a 4.2 inch thin-film Multi Information Display. The higher spec trims get a new 9.0 inch Electro Multi Vision and Navigation unit, upgraded from the 8-inch in the previous models.

Advanced safety features like radar controlled Pre-Collision Safety System, Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control among others will be offered with the updated LandCruiser 200.
