Lexus has announced that it will be launching its GS F performance sedan in Australia in February 2016. This is the second high performance ‘F’ model to be launched in the continent after the RC F Coupe.
The GS F is 4,915 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,440 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The GS sedan’s performance variant has an aggressive-looking front fascia and a low, wide stance. The face gets a huge ‘spindle-shaped’ grille outlined in chrome and large air intakes. The sides get flared wheel arches housing forged alloys, chrome window surrounds and side mirrors with integrated turn indicators. At the rear, there is a carbon-fibre spoiler and quad exhausts integrated within the rear diffuser.
Interiors get premium quality materials with Alcantara leather being used on the dashboard, door pads and centre console bin. Interior colour schemes include Flare Red, Moonstone and black with buyers getting to choose between carbon fibre and aluminium accents. The dashboard gets a 12.3-inch infotainment system while the instrument cluster is a TFT unit featuring tachometer in the center and speedometer on the right.
The GS F gets propelling power from the same 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine of the RC F Coupe. This unit churns out 467 hp and 389 lb-ft (527 Nm) of torque, it is mated to an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels.
Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley says that the Lesus GS F “delivers accessible performance for all drivers, an unforgettable sound from its naturally aspirated V8 engine and a range of luxury and convenience features typical of a premium Lexus sedan.”
The final specifications and the pricing will be announced at the time of the car’s market launch.
