Renault Megane RS275, the race-spec Megane, has been announced for Australia. The two-seat performance Megane will be limited to 50 units in Australia. The hot-hatch is powered by an in-line four-cylinder 2.0-litre F4R turbocharged petrol engine that produces 195 kW (275 hp) and 360 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The Trophy-R does 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
The special edition Megane is nearly 101 kg lighter than the RS275. For shedding weight, the rear wiper has been removed, single-piece polycarbonate seats are designed which saves 22 kg, and insulating and absorbing materials have been removed to save 18 kg. The car sports standard 19″ Speedline Turini Wheels finished in black colour and can be opted in red too.
Fuel consumption is rated at 7.5 l/100 km (13.33 km/l) and CO2 emissions is marked at 174 g/km. Australia will receive one-fifth of the total 250 units to be planned for global sales. The Megane RS275 Trophy-R is priced at AUS $61,990 (excluding on-road costs).
