Tesla has confirmed the performance-spec Tesla Model S P85D for Australia. The performance model will launch in June 2015 with prices starting from AUS $133,500 (excluding on-road costs).
The Model S P85D is equipped with two electric motors unlike the standard Model S which is equipped with just one. One motor sends 165 kW (221 hp) to the front wheels and the other sends 350 kW (469 hp) to the rear wheels. The total power amounts to 515 kW (690 hp).
The performance model reaches from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and climbs up to a top speed of 250 km/h.
The normal Tesla Model S will be launched in December with two variants:
- Entry-level 60 (with a 60 kWh battery pack) which starts at AUS $91,400. This battery pack will deliver 285 kW (382 hp), 345 km driving range, 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h.
- Mid-level 85 (with 85kWh battery pack) which starts at AUS $103,400. This battery-pack will deliver 285 kW (382 hp) but have a driving range of 460 km, 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5.6 seconds, and a top speed of 225 km/h.
Supercharger access will be free for 85 and P85D models, whereas the entry-level 60 model will require paying extra $2,700 for the same. The 85 and P85D models will have eight years, infinite kilometers warranty coverage, whereas the 60 model will have eight years/200,000 kilometers warranty.
